In this release of BLOX Subscriptions, we are launching a new beta test to globally improve credit card acceptance rates for auto-renewing transactions, introducing a "Backup Gateway" configuration, implementing security improvements to the gift subscription purchase workflow, and fixing usability issues in the PayPal purchase flow.
FEATURES
When a subscriber is in Grace for payment failure and visits the user dashboard to add a new card, the payment was being captured during the overnight renewal process. Now, the payment will be captured immediately and the subscriber will move to active status right away. This is part of an ongoing effort to improve retention, expand lifecycle marketing opportunities and improve the overall subscriber experience. In an effort to globally improve credit card acceptance rates for auto-renewing transactions, we are opening up a new beta test that improves retry logic. When enabled, BLOX Audience+ will skip unnecessary retries for non-recoverable credit card declines and notify customers to update their payment information. Expired cards are checked for updates with Automated Credit Card Updater before retrying transactions. Subscribers will still have access during the grace period, ensuring continuous service while BLOX notifies them, so they can address payment issues.

In an effort to maximize payment success rates, we have introduced a configuration for a "Backup Gateway." In the case of soft credit card declines on a recurring transaction, such as "DECLINE," BLOX can replay the transaction attempt on another gateway to see if we can successfully charge the card, and retain the subscriber.

We are beta testing changes that will pass stored credentials when a payment is authorized, to comply with transaction processing rules from MasterCard. (SUBSCRIPTN-557483)
IMPROVEMENTS
For security reasons, we are throttling the number of purchase attempts that can be made on the gift subscription purchase workflow. (SUBSCRIPTN-557468)
BUG FIXES
We have corrected a usability issue with PayPal button purchase workflow. When PayPal was selected on the 1-page purchase form and an incorrect password was entered, the user was being redirected without an appropriate error message. Now users in this situation will stay on the page and see an error message that says, "Invalid password or account does not exist."
