In this major out of band release of BLOX Core, we are excited to introduce enhanced login flexibility, catering to users with multiple accounts or login preferences. This improved login experience focuses on resolving common issues faced by users trying to link their accounts across various sign-in methods.
This release also includes updates to our webservices, changes to default behavior for Editorial start dates based on site's location vs admin, a resolution to our Default Section Images feature, and much more.
NEW FEATURES
Users can now create an account using any login method, even if they've already created an account with a different method. For instance, if you previously registered with Facebook and want to use Google for sign-up, our software now enables you to bind the Google authentication to your existing email address. This streamlines the process for adding a new login method to an existing account. We hope your readers will enjoy the new and improved login experience. (TNCMS-554571)
For partners using the hosted version of BLOX Total CMS print pagination service, the Print tab for editorial assets now includes a Print Placement Priority field in the general settings. This will allow admins additional opportunity to query this field for page design and pagination purposes. This feature is necessary for Phase A of Automated Production's infrastructure. (TNCMS-554663)
We've extended the "un-trusted" option in webservices to allow third-parties access to retrieve and update asset lists as well as retrieve video markers. This is in an effort to allow partners more granular access to re-engage with their readers with their content based on consumption. (TNCMS-554657)
IMPROVEMENTS
We've updated the admin in various areas to reflect the BLOX VMS (formerly Field59) rebranding. (TNCMS-554678)
BUGS
We've updated the default behavior for the Start date/times for Editorial assets. Historically, this field would auto-populate with the current time conditional to the user's browser time zone, rather than the site's time zone. This has led to inconsistencies in other areas in the admin where time values are presented such as revision history. The default behavior will now prefill the Start date/time with the current time according to the Site's time zone. (TNCMS-6781)
Section map configuration wouldn't accept single character categories. This is now supported. (TNCMS-6216)
We've addressed a bug that was causing default section images to be inappropriately displayed as cover images. Default section images will now only display as previews for articles. (TNCMS-554698)
We are also making infrastructure changes that should not be noticeable to admin or front-end users. If you experience any issues or have any questions, please contact customer support at (800) 293-9576 or BLOXDigital.com/support.
DEVELOPER NOTES
Important Updates and Recommendation on GTM
We understand that managing Google Tag Manager (GTM) events and firing of tags might have been a bit tricky, so we've made some changes to ensure a smoother, more seamless experience. Now, by default, BLOX CMS takes control of the gtm.js event. This should make it simpler to handle the timing and firing of tags, improving overall performance and eliminating a bunch of issues that some of you were encountering with Google Analytics (GA) in BLOX CMS.
We strongly recommend all our partners transition towards the official GTM container support or GA support, and discontinue the use of custom code. This switch will help you benefit from the full potential of our software, minimizing any compatibility issues and enhancing overall performance.
We're confident that these changes will make the GA and GTM experiences more streamlined and efficient. As always, your feedback is crucial for us, so please share your thoughts and suggestions or reach out if you encounter any issues. Visit our documentation on GTM here.Â
