In this release for BLOX Mobile NX, App Version 216.0/9.17.0, we are introducing a new ad placement and block type while improving the appearance of popular blocks such as headline with and without preview. Additionally we are fixing bugs related to editorial bugs related to collection and audio assets, and the livestream banner.

iOS and Android features and improvements
Customers can now utilize a new ad placement called article page header. This placement is shown at the top of an article detail view. (TNNOWIOS-294/TNNOWANDROID-1172)
Static collections containing a mix of more than one asset type will now utilize the dynamic collection views and presentations instead of the article detail view. (TNNOWIOS-1043/TNNOWANDROID-1218)
The ‘Weather Alerts’ block type can now be utilized in the Mobile NX app. This will provide any available weather alerts for the set zip code. For additional details, see BLOX Mobile NX - Weather Alerts. (TNNOWIOS-1337/TNNOWANDROID-1154)
GA4/Firebase - An event titled ‘swipe_view’ will be logged when a user swipes on an embedded photo gallery. For additional details, see the Miscellaneous section at the bottom of Mobile NX Google Analytics 4. (TNNOWIOS-1361/TNNOWANDROID-1201)
When viewing an e-Edition, non-subscribers will no longer be able to download/print the whole issue. For subscribers, they will have the option to download/print either the current page or whole issue. Additionally, the print and share buttons have been removed on the publication view. The experimental setting called ‘native_customer_io’ has been deprecated and now relies on the BLOX Mobile App Manager settings under ‘Analytic Settings’ (TNNOWIOS-1365/TNNOWANDROID-1210)
If the ‘Weather setting display’ option is turned off in Page Customizations, the ‘Manage weather’ row in the Profile view will be removed. (TNNOWIOS-1369/TNNOWANDROID-1252)
App managers can now create custom advertisement overrides based on sections and/or keywords. (TNNOWIOS-1373/TNNOWANDROID-1213)
The size of the play icon displayed on cards for assets containing video assets has been increased. (TNNOWIOS-1380/TNNOWANDROID-1211)

Embedded YouTube players will now appear within the article detail view and will no longer push to a WebKit view. (TNNOWIOS-1418/TNNOWANDROID-1260)
For all ad requests, if the user allows tracking, a PPID will be provided. If the user is logged in, the user id will be used. If the user is not logged in then the segment anonymous ID will be used instead. (TNNOWIOS-1429/TNNOWANDROID-1264)
The experimental setting called ‘native_login’ has been replaced with a ‘Disable Login’ toggle found in BLOX Mobile App Manager (‘General Settings’ of the ‘Customization’ tab). Apps utilizing this setting need to make the migration before releasing on this new version. (TNNOWIOS-1458/TNNOWANDROID-1299)
iOS features and improvements
The default sticky ad unit used for article detail views can now be set from BLOX Mobile App Manager under the ‘Article Page Ad Settings’. (TNNOWIOS-1333)
Cards within the headline, with and without preview block, will now dynamically size based on the asset’s title. (TNNOWIOS-782)
Trinity player will no longer show if the article asset is less than three sentences and/or the content contains more HTML content than plain text. (TNNOWIOS-988)
The text shown to a user who attempts to create an account with an existing email has been updated to better convey this error to the user. (TNNOWIOS-1388)
In order to reduce the amount of webservice calls to weather APIs, we have increased the caching frequency. (TNNOWIOS-1391)
On e-Edition, if a segment contains multiple regions, all regions will be highlighted when one is tapped. (TNNOWIOS-1392)

iOS bugs
If a weather glimpse block is placed at the bottom of the feed it will no longer be cut off when shown on an iPad (TNNOWIOS-879)
A crash was identified and has been resolved when rotating an iPad while viewing a photo gallery on an iPad. (TNNOWIOS-923)
A bug was identified and resolved where HTML embedded footer content would not show as expected on HTML, PDF or Poll assets. (TNNOWIOS-1031)
A bug where the set background color was not being used for utility cards has been resolved. (TNNOWIOS-1097)
In some cases, HTML and Javascript tags provided in the HTML footer field would not appear as expected. HTML and Javascript tags provided in the HTML footer field will appear as expected. (TNNOWIOS-1386)
A bug has been resolved where audio assets embedded in an article would not play. (TNNOWIOS-1389)
A bug has been resolved where articles containing a collection, which had an unavailable asset, would cause the app to crash. (TNNOWIOS-1394)
A bug where some hyperlinks (a tag) would not appear as expected in the native article detail view. Hyperlinks will show as expected. (TNNOWIOS-1398)
A bug where favorite topics were not appearing in the order set by the user has been resolved. Additionally, another bug when clicking on one of these topics from the section slider would result in a white view has been resolved. (TNNOWIOS-1428)
A bug where livestream banner players set to autoplay would freeze upon loading has been resolved. (TNNOWIOS-1442)
A crash was identified and resolved when a user scrolls the asset feed while a video is playing. (TNNOWIOS-1444)
A bug where certain configurations of article detail view ad settings would cause the sticky ad unit to appear even when an ad unit was not provided. This has been resolved, no ad unit will show unless defined. (TNNOWIOS-1452)
A crash was identified and resolved when the device is locked before the app has completely loaded. (TNNOWIOS-1473)
Android features and improvements
Embedded collections will respect the ‘Hide headline’ and ‘Hide details’ toggles found in the asset catalog. (TNNOWANDROID-507)
Web subscribers will no longer see the ‘Subscribe’ button in the Profile view. (TNNOWANDROIOD-1226)
The Chartbeat SDK has been updated to the latest available version (1.7.4) (TNNOWANDROID-1245)
The size of the app logo shown on the nav bar has been reduced to fit more naturally within the space. (TNNOWANDROID-1284)
When the timestamp setting is set to ‘Pretty Date’ the timestamps shown on block and cards will display as expected according to the ‘Pretty Date’ rules. (TNNOWANDROID-1306)
Android bugs
A bug was identified where web links opened from the “More” section would open outside of the app. This has been resolved, links will open in the app as expected. (TNNOWANDROID-1079)
A bug was identified which caused the font style setting for the article detail view to be ignored and always use sans serif. This has been resolved, the font style will change according to the setting. (TNNOWANDROID-1280)
A bug was identified which caused the ‘Home’ button found in the nav bar while viewing an asset to be hidden in most cases. This has been resolved, the ‘Home’ button will always show. (TNNOWANDROID-1282)
A bug was identified which caused push notifications containing non-standard BLOX asset URLs to open to a white screen. This has been resolved, the URLs will open to WebKit as expected. (TNNOWANDROID-1297)
This release also makes minor infrastructure changes that should not be noticeable to admin or front-end users.
