This error could appear when launching Adobe InDesign or after attempting to upload or download the Image Toning Preferences from/to Page Tracker for use as a disaster recovery backup or for remote use with Distributed Production.
This release of BLOX Total CMS Client 5.61 should provide incremental improvements for Distributed Production, Automated Production, and general use.
5.61.00-9 Released 2022.07.05
Bug Fix for Image Toning Preferences Parsing Error: A recent change to update the BLOX Total CMS client for Adobe InDesign and Adobe InCopy for the eventual move to a modern language support caused a bug processing Image Toning Preferences when those preferences used the %%Images%% or the %%pubcode%% placeholders. This has been fixed. (INDESIGN-3875)
5.61.00-8 Released 2022.06.20
Bug Fix for Image Toning Preferences Parsing Error: During recent regression testing we noticed that uploaded Image Toning Preferences Files (primarily a requirement for Distributed Production) were generating a parsing error similar to the one shown below. This has been fixed. (INDESIGN-3875)
This error could appear when launching Adobe InDesign or after attempting to upload or download the Image Toning Preferences from/to Page Tracker for use as a disaster recovery backup or for remote use with Distributed Production.

5.61.00-6 Released 2022.06.08
UI change to match OS defaults: There is a generic dialog that the BLOX Total CMS client for Adobe InDesign and Adobe InCopy uses that can display two buttons (usually Yes/No). That dialog has been modified so that the default button is now positioned according to the host OS user interface standards. Thus, on Windows it will remain on the left. MacOS users will now have it displayed on the right. (INDESIGN-3418)
Asset Manager Bug Fix: The Asset Manager has had an Auto Search function since 2013 driven by a preference in the Asset Manager. However, it was recently discovered that changing the preference for Number of Search Results always unchecked it. It should have only been disabled when the value was set above 50 results. This has been fixed. (INDESIGN-3619)
Collection Asset Descriptions can now be Jumped: We had a site that writes article length descriptions on collection assets and wanted the ability to jump them. Since the Collection descriptions are basically articles, we now allow them to be jumped. (INDESIGN-3826)
Template Master Bug Fix: A change in version 5.60.00-8 caused a bug that prevented the use of double-clicking on an asset to refresh the rulesets when the Template Master was using Development Mode. Instead the Template Master had to click the Refresh button to place the asset and refresh the rulesets. This has been fixed and double-clicking on an asset while in Development Mode will refresh the rulesets. (INDESIGN-3850)
5.61.00-5 Released 2022.05.26
Improvement for Template Master control Jump Item Upload for Distributed Production and Disaster Recovery: Since client version 5.48 it has been possible to upload the Jump Items to Page Tracker to provide a disaster recovery options as well as support Distributed Production. These Jump Items are used to create the turnlines, continued from lines and jump heads when jumping stories. When that support for uploading was added, it would only upload to one domain at a time. Now the default jump items can be uploaded to multiple domains and better simulates how the legacy files behaved. In addition, the upload to Page Tracker is now prevented unless all of the site’s required jump items exist. In the past, you could export a turnline and it would upload that by itself (which is almost useless). And finally, there is now an option asking if the original jump items should be moved to the Backups folder or left in place for the in-office users or for use in uploading to other domains. (INDESIGN-3706)
Additional Distributed Production Preparedness Testing Options: The Distributed Production Preparedness test now requires a document naming convention with 4 characters for the year. (INDESIGN-3836)
5.61.00-4 Released 2022.05.20
Open by Status Bug Fix for sites with poor naming conventions: We had our first site with only a two character year in the document naming convention attempt to use the BLOX Total CMS > Open by Status… function that was first released about a year ago. Two digit years in naming conventions aren’t recommended and we never tested with that configuration. Unfortunately, it didn’t work because Edition dates are always four digits. That has been fixed, and while it is still not recommended to have just 2 characters in the year component, it will work with Open by Status. In addition, we also now allow this feature to work when there are no Page Content Types defined. (INDESIGN-3829)
Modification to Ad Statuses' Search function: Since 2015, the Ad Statuses dialog has had an option for Copying an Ad Image file to the proper folder. The button in Ad Statuses is marked ‘Search'. To enable it requires using a Page Tracker Application Settings (shown below) from the Advertising accordion. How the function works depends upon the OS. For Windows users it should only allow you to select any file that is named with the ad number. MacOS users can likely select any file. However, the function has been changed so that it will reject any ad that isn’t either the Primary or Secondary Ad Image File format. Normally that would be .pdf for Primary and then either .eps, .tif, or .jpg for the Secondary format. Some sites will not have a secondary format. Another change is you are no longer allowed to select a file that is already located in the same folder as where it is trying to copy to. That was causing Adobe InDesign to destroy the file, so that’s no longer allowed. (INDESIGN-3837)
5.61.00-3 Released 2022.05.19
Return of ability to use .jpg files for Ads: Client 5.47 removed the ability to use .jpg files as a secondary Ad Image Format. While a horrendously bad idea, some sites insisted and so we had supported that option. Unfortunately, the removal of the legacy .enabled files removed that format option. It has now been returned via a setting that the TownNews staff can add to a domain. If you need this, please file a support ticket. (INDESIGN-3831)
.tif files for Ads are now fully supported: To support a site that uses a decade outdated system to generate ads, we have allowed .tif files to be used as a secondary Ad Image Format. If you need this, please file a support ticket. Prior to this change, .tif files could only be manually placed in ad frames using File > Place or its equivalents. Now Ad Statuses can auto import them using the Fix Errors or Fix Errors and Warnings buttons. They are also supported using the Search button if that button is enabled. (INDESIGN-3832)
Major Modification for Search Function in Ad Statuses: When enabled via a Page Tracker Application Settings option, the Search function in Ad Status allowed a user to click on an ad in the Ad Statuses dialog and then locate any file that had the same extension as the Primary Ad Image Format. It would then copy that file to where the Ad Statuses function expected that ad to be located. Unfortunately, this allowed ANY name to be found, but only with the Primary Ad Image Format extension which was nearly always .pdf. This Search Function has now been changed to only allow the user to select files whose name matches the ad number, but using any file format. So, for example, regardless of the Primary or Secondary Ad Image Format, you can select any file named with the ad number to be copied to the proper Ads folder. And then, if it is actually the Primary or Secondary format, the Fix Errors and Warnings or the Fix Errors button will then import the ad. If it is another file format, the user will need to use File > Place or its equivalents to import an alternate Ad Image Format. And in that case, the Search function isn’t helping much. (INDESIGN-3832)
5.61.00-1 Released 2022.05.13
Minor Change to the Check In and Save Revision dialogs for pages/documents: When checking in or saving a revision of a Distributed Production document, the dialog always had an option to accept ownership. In the past this was always enabled when the Update Ownership and Workflow checkbox was enabled. Now, it is only enabled when the user doesn't already own the pages of the document. (INDESIGN-3330)
Minor Launch Performance Improvement: As the BLOX Total CMS client for Adobe InDesign and InCopy is launched and the user logs in to a domain, the information on the templates is gathered. Originally the web-service to download the templates from Page Tracker was called at a minimum of four times. Now it is only called more than once if more than 25 templates have been uploaded. This can save a several tenths of a second during Log In. (INDESIGN-3483)
Open by Status UI enhancement: The Open By Status dialog now has two icons/buttons to increment or decrement the date by one day. These appear to the right of the Publication Date’s day of month menu and make it easier to adjust the date in this dialog. (INDESIGN-3508)
New Option to Accept Ownership of Advance Pages: When a user creates a new document via BLOX Total CMS > Documents > New… there is now an Accept Ownership checkbox. The Ownership of the page causes the user to become the Assigned User of the page and it provides an easy way to relocate their pages in the Open by Status dialog as well as Page Tracker. (INDESIGN-3510)
New Me Button in Open by Status: We've added a Me button in the Open by Status dialog to jump the Assigned User menu to your user name. This makes it easy to find the pages that have been assigned to you. (INDESIGN-3511)
Verification of Proper Client Install: Despite well documented procedures, we have occasionally had sites mangle the installation of the client and merge the older and newer versions of the client. Now after the client launches it checks the files to confirm that they properly match the expected components. If the installation doesn’t match the affected users will receive the following notice but the log in and use should still continue, though unknown results might happen. (INDESIGN-3521)
Change to Create Pages for Page Tracker updating: We have some sites that don’t use our Advertising functions to create the edition. Instead, they use the As Backup Document feature while also specifying the number of pages in the section. When the user then used Create Pages, only the first page would show up in Page Tracker and the Open by Status dialog unless the user manually saved the document. Now, if Page Tracker doesn’t know of the extra pages, they will be automatically added. (INDESIGN-3640)
Bug Fix for Warn for Non-Print Ready: Client 5.53 added a feature to warn users placing assets which weren’t marked as being Ready for Print. However, an attempted bug fix in the 5.54 version broke the feature. The result is when the Warn when Placing Non-Print Ready option was selected in the Translation Options (TO) tab of BLOX Total CMS > Settings and Support is that the use would be warned on all assets that were print ready as opposed to that were not print ready. It is now operational again. (INDESIGN-3792)
Open By Status control for Last Edition: The Open by Status dialog now has a small button to the right of the Publication Code in the Editions: area which, when clicked, will return the Date and Publication menus to the match the Edition for the last document opened by the Open by Status dialog. (INDESIGN-3819)
