MOLINE, Ill. – Senior Vice President Brad Ward has been promoted to president and chief operating officer of TownNews.com.
Founder Marc Wilson’s title will change from president and chief executive officer to chairman and CEO. The new titles become effective Oct. 1, 2014.
"Brad has led the technology development of TownNews.com for a dozen years," Wilson said. "His new title is recognition of his growing responsibility and authority within the company. He is well-known and well-liked by our customers throughout the nation and Canada. This move shows our dedication to long-term management stability."
"I'm excited about my new role and continuing to help the company, our customers and employees as the industry continues its transition to a digital media world," Ward said. "Marc Wilson has been a great mentor and friend, and I look forward to continuing to work with him.”
Ward has been in the industry for 29 years. In 2000, he joined the TownNews.com team after three years with Lee Enterprises, a majority partner of TownNews.com. Ward held the title of IT systems director, and was in charge of newspaper production system installation and support. Before this promotion, Ward served as chief technology officer, COO, and senior vice president.
Wilson started TownNews.com in 1989 in the back shop of a Montana weekly newspaper owned by him, his wife, Virginia, and partner Robert P. Dalton.
