At BLOX Digital, we believe success starts with finding the right people. The work we do here is changing the local media industry, and these are the people who are making it happen. Today we shine a light on Betsy Davison, Director of Quality Assurance.
What is your background?
I graduated with a degree in programming before working in customer service, as a programmer, and at a magazine handling all their classifieds before coming to BLOX Digital.
Here at BLOX Digital, I started in the Training and Documentation department and then took over when the previous manager left. I've led webinars, training, documentation, quality control, and quality assurance. Now I lead the Quality Assurance team for our sites and software.
What do you love most about your job?
I can't pick just one thing but I love my department and how everyone pitches in to help each other. QA is like a roller coaster: we have ups and downs in each area of QA and we all shift to make sure we stay on track.
Every day there is a different challenge and every day is different. It's rarely boring in our department.
And lastly, I like seeing how the software has progressed and changed in the last 13+ years and excited to see how it changes in the years to come.
What are you currently working on that you'd like everyone to know more about?
We are working on automating more of the regression tests so we can spend more time on tickets and less time doing manual regression.
What are you most excited about for the future of the news industry?
It's interesting watching the industry grow and change. For example when COVID hit there were virtual graduations and virtual fairs. I'm excited to be part of the industry and see how it will change with all the new and innovative technology.Â
What's something people don't know about you?
I live on a horse farm, and we used to board 30+ horses on the farm. We have retired from boarding horses, and now we enjoy having it to ourselves and growing hay. I also do crafts of all kinds. Recently I've started creating stained glass windows and I love it!
