At BLOX Digital, we believe success starts with finding the right people. The work we do here is changing the local media industry, and these are the people who are making it happen. Today we shine a light on Emily Blakely, Digital Ad Ops Program Manager.
What is your background?
I received a bachelors in fine art with a focus on communication design. While in school I worked as a graphic designer with a local t-shirt company. After graduation I worked with a local newspaper as a graphic designer/ad scheduler.
Over the years I ended up working as a sales rep, classified rep, account manager, special section coordinator, and paginated the paper at that local newspaper. After a few years, I was excited to come work with BLOX Digital as an onboarding program manager and to learn more in the world of Google Ad Manager.
What do you love most about your job?
I love when we get the chance to help a client. Many times they will come to us very frustrated with the amount of information. When we are able to teach them how to use our program and they get confident, it is a great feeling!
What are you currently working on that you’d like everyone to know more about?
I am currently furthering my skills for troubleshooting Google Ad Manager issues. Every time I learn something new, it's another way I can help our clients.
What are you most excited about for the future of the news industry?
I am excited to see how we are able to upgrade the style and functionality of news sites and advertising. Everything from different types of site layouts to creative templates for ads. I also enjoy seeing different design trends in the advertising.
What's something people don't know about you?
I am a stepmom to three teens and I have a 10 month old biological daughter. (And yes the teens are fantastic babysitters.) When I am not spending time with them I enjoy painting, drawing, and designing as well as hiking and traveling with family.
