What is your background?
I've worked for BLOX Digital's corporate parent, Lee Enterprises, for 12 years now in a variety of roles for digital marketing and advertising.
I started here in the early days when Lee was growing their digital product and service offerings. I've been able to evolve alongside and help build that digital footprint, especially in the areas of website design, management, and project management.
Currently, I'm assisting with graphic design needs for the BLOX Digital rebrand and focusing on eCommerce for Lee.
What do you love most about your job?
I get to be creative, both in how I solve problems and in the final product's execution. I like working on a diverse range and I consider myself to be a jack-of-all trades (or Jake-of-all-trades).
It's nice to be brought into different initiatives around the country. In my dozen years working with Lee and BLOX Digital, I've worked with people in almost every corner of the company—which is very cool.
What are you currently working on that you'd like everyone to know more about?
My main focus right now is eCommerce, which has made massive strides in the last decade or so. Most of the manual, tedious development and infrastructure it used to take to bring an eCommerce website online has been automated.
I was able to assist with the creation of an internal eCommerce store for employees to celebrate the launch of BLOX Digital. We sent branded swag for over a hundred orders!
What are you most excited about for the future of the news industry?
I'm fortunate to be at a company that values being ahead of the tech curve. What I'm most excited about is that we have such a vast array of digital products to offer. Many of these products and services didn't even exist a few years ago. Lee and BLOX Digital can offer our customers pretty much any editorial or advertising solution they need!
What's something people don't know about you?
I played Division I and semi-professional soccer, and I'm a huge music nerd with about 700 vinyl LPs. I also have a two year old son who is currently obsessed with dinosaurs and trucks.
