At BLOX Digital, we believe success starts with finding the right people. The work we do here is changing the local media industry, and these are the people who are making it happen. Today we shine a light on Nick Nichols, Project Manager.
What is your background?
I graduated from Mercer University majoring in journalism. After graduation I worked as a newspaper photographer for seven years before the publisher asked me if I was interested in revamping their website. At the time, I was ready to redesign our website with our existing CMS. We decided to look at alternatives because it just wasn't a good fit for where we wanted to take our site.
I researched various CMS options but BLOX CMS was always the front runner for me. And that's the direction we went. After that I worked as the new media director managing three BLOX CMS sites before joining the BLOX Digital team as a project manager.
What do you love most about your job?
I love interacting with our partners and helping them launch a website they can be proud of. I want to nail that first impression when their communities see the new website or product.
From the moment I joined BLOX Digital there has been such a sense of innovation and chasing the horizon. BLOX CMS is a fantastic, world-class CMS, and it would be easy to sit back and just coast. But that isn't what our team does! As technology evolves and improves, our product managers and developers are always looking for ways BLOX Digital can help our partners impact their communities no matter how big or small.
What are you currently working on that you'd like everyone to know more about?
I'm working on a site for a newspaper on an island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. It's definitely the furthest I've ever had a project.
Outside of work I'm working on a Mandalorian costume. I've 3D printed the armor but I'm still trying to get the beskar finish to look screen accurate. Hoping to be done in time for Halloween.
What are you most excited about for the future of the news industry?
I just enjoy innovation. I like new toys and learning new systems. So I'm always interested in what the next big thing is for the news industry.
What's something people don't know about you?
I live in Georgia with my wife and daughter who I have recently turned into Stranger Things fanatics. And I've never had brain freeze.
