Our Opinion:
For all sites running modern OS versions, the recommended version of Adobe InDesign and Adobe InCopy is Creative Cloud 2025, or version 20.0, with BLOX Total CMS Client 5.73.1 installed.Â
Adobe released InDesign Creative Cloud 2025 on Oct. 14, 2024. The BLOX Digital BLOX Total CMS team has been testing the new version against both Windows and Mac OS.Â

Updating InDesign with BLOX Total CMS
Before installing the latest version of Creative Cloud InDesign, we recommend sites DO NOT HAVE "Import previous settings and preferences" checked in the Creative Cloud application. Having it checked (and it is, unfortunately, the default) can/will cause the updated InDesign to get a copy of the client code rather than a copy of the shortcut/alias to the client code. The end result is that some things (all the add-ons) will fail (no automatic folios for example) and worse you could have crashing if you manage to get two copies of the client code running.
We recommend updating the newsroom before ad layout (the staff that uses BLOX Total CMS > Documents > Advertising > Create Edition from Edition file...) so that the pages can be worked on because once a newer version of Adobe InDesign opens the document, you aren't going to be able to open it with an older version.
Then, once you have each workstation updated please use the client's
BLOX Total CMS > Development > Spawn Template...
feature to update the InDesign templates to the current version of Adobe InDesign.
Known Issues:
- Older MacOS users may still have the issue with the menus being hard to use unless the OS opens a file first. The BLOX Total CMS Client began automating that with Adobe InDesign Creative Cloud 2022. We have extended that support with Creative Cloud 2025, including InCopy.
