In this release for BLOX Mobile NX, app version 222.0, we are making user experience improvements to link assets, the weather alert block, and adding additional information for article assets. Additionally, a number of reported bugs on both iOS and Android have been resolved.
Features & Improvements (iOS & Android)
- For assets with a ‘subheadline’, this will now show below the asset title in the article detail view. (TNNOWIOS-1607/TNNOWANDROID-1430, resolves CS-8270)
- The Osano SDK has been updated to the latest version on both iOS and Android. (TNNOWIOS-1766/, resolves CS-8987)
Features & Improvements (iOS)
- The app’s SKAdNetwork identifier list has been updated. This is used by Google to properly attribute installations to advertising. See Google’s documentation for more info, https://developers.google.com/ad-manager/mobile-ads-sdk/ios/privacy/strategies#skadnetwork (TNNOWIOS-1567)
Features & Improvements (Android)
- Link assets and links will now open in webviews rather than native article detail views. This issue was resolved on iOS with BLOX Mobile NX version 1.17.0. (TNNOWANDROID-1371, resolves CS-7978)Â
- The weather alert block title uses ‘Severity’ instead of ‘Urgency’ to match the experience on the web. This issue was resolved on iOS with BLOX Mobile NX version 1.17.0. (TNNOWANDROID-1496, resolves CS-8621)
- The ‘Puzzmo’ tab type is supported for customers with a Puzzmo partner ID. Please note this is currently not supported on iOS and will break iOS apps where this tab type is used. iOS apps will be supported in a future update. (TNNOWANDROID-1511)
- The BLOX Mobile NX app now supports Google’s adaptive banner type. (TNNOWANDROID-1515, resolves CS-8784)
- WebView API for Ads support has been added to the internal webview. (TNANDROID-1534)
Bugfixes (Android)
- A bug was identified where using multiple weather blocks, with different zipcodes, on a single view would cause all blocks to use a single zipcode. This has been resolved and blocks set with a specific zip code will be populated with that zipcode’s data. (TNNOWANDROID-1504, resolves CS-8726)
- A bug was identified where non-inline child assets would not appear in the top carousel. This has been resolved and child assets will appear as expected. (TNNOWANDROID-1521)
- A UI bug was identified where key elements from the weather alert block were missing. This has been resolved and all expected labels show on the weather alert block. (TNNOANDROID-1544, CS-8982)
- A bug was identified causing ads to not show as expected when the ad interval display was set to ‘asset’. ‘Block’ display mode worked as expected. This has been resolved and ads will display as expected in ‘asset’ mode and match iOS. (TNNOWANDROID-1546)
Bugfixes (iOS)
- A UI bug was identified where the ‘Share’ and ‘Close’ button were tappable but not visible on the crop result tool in the eEdition reader. This has been resolved and the buttons will be visible. (TNNOWIOS-1438)
- In some very rare cases, when configured, the review prompt appearing on the eEdition publication view would crash the app. This has been resolved and the app will not crash when showing the prompt in this position. (TNNOWIOS-1486, resolves CS-7725)
- A bug was identified where the ‘Notifications’ block would not use the slider appearance when selected. This has been resolved and the slider and table are now valid appearance options. (TNNOWIOS-1540, resolves CS-7854)
- A bug was identified where, on iPad, tapping the ‘Display’ button did not scale the page as intended. This has been resolved and the button will fit the page either to the height or width of the tablet. (TNNOWIOS-1558)
- A UI bug was identified where the splash screen ad would appear differently if uploaded to AppMan rather than Design/Blocks. This has been resolved and the ad will appear as expected regardless of the upload location. (TNNOWIOS-1663, resolves CS-8548)
- A UI bug was identified where the weather alerts block would show a blank white space when no alerts were available. This has been resolved and no space will be shown when alerts are not available in the weather alerts block. (TNNOWIOS-1685, resolves CS-8545)
- A bug was identified where livestreams set up in Design/Blocks would not work as expected. This has been resolved and livestreams set up in either AppMan or Design/Blocks will work as expected. AppMan will continue to take priority if the stream is set up in both. (TNNOWIOS-1686, resolves CS-8317)
- A UI bug was identified where rotating the eEdition reader, in either orientation, would cause the page to jump up to the top of the view. This has been resolved and rotating the device will now rotate the page at the center point of the device. (TNNOWIOS-1732, resolves CS-8683)
- A UI bug was identified where disabling the ‘livestream indicator’ in AppMan would not remove it from the interface. This has been resolved and the indicator disappears as expected when disabled. (TNNOWIOS-1764, resolves CS-8920)
- A UI bug was identified where unselected tab bar icons were hard to see for apps using lighter color palettes. This has been resolved by disabling Liquid Glass support in our apps. Now unselected tab bar icons are easier to see. (TNNOWIOS-1765, resolves CS-9008)
- A bug was identified which caused audio to continue to play from a HTML view when the view disappears. This has been resolved and audio will stop playing when navigating from the HTML view. (TNNOWIOS-1775, resolves CS-9045)
- A number of UI bugs were identified on the breaking alert block such as the background color working unexpectedly and the headline font appearing small. These issues have all been resolved and the breaking alert block will now appear as expected and the same as on Android. (TNNOWIOS-1776, resolves CS-9058, CS-9131)
- A bug was identified where iAP offers would not show properly if the app was built from an umbrella site. This has been resolved and iAPs will show regardless of the site’s structure. (TNNOWIOS-1791, resolves CS-9133)
This release also makes minor infrastructure changes that should not be noticeable to admin or front-end users.
