In this release of the BLOX Mobile NX (version 1.14.0), we have addressed many reported bugs concerning image display, HTML content, and ad placements. We have also made improvements to Segment analytic events.
Features (Android & iOS)
- App managers can add ‘---<<<NEXT CONTENT>>>---’ in between content passed to the HTML Footer Embed text area in AppMan. This macro will split the content provided in this text area into multiple web views and load independently. (TNNOWIOS-1572/TNNOWANDROID-1393)
Improvements & Bug Fixes (Android & iOS)
- A bug was identified where child YouTube assets would not appear in the top cover carousel as clickable video players. This has been resolved and the YouTube player should show and be clickable and playable from this carousel. (TNNOWIOS-1445/TNNOWANDROID-1281)
- Segment: The frequency of the ‘identify’ event has been reduced to better represent user login. (TNNOWIOS-1547/TNNOWANDROID-1374)
- Segment: ‘app_version’ and ‘app_build’, which represent the app build’s version and build number, have been added to the ‘properties’ object for all events. (TNNOWIOS-1563/TNNOWANDROID-1380)
- Segment: Audio and Video events have been adjusted to reflect the Mobile Apps event specifications. (TNNOWIOS-1570/TNNOWANDROID-1389)
Improvements & Bug Fixes (iOS)
- The Segment SDK library has been updated to version 1.7.3. (TNNOWIOS-1490)
- The text on the ATT prompt shown on first load has been updated to better reflect its purpose. The previous text was causing rejections from Apple. The prompt will now read “Your data will be used to deliver personalized ads and to measure advertising effectiveness in order to improve your app experience.” (TNNOWIOS-1528)
- The image sizes used for large block types, such as the mega card, has been increased to prevent blurring and stretching on larger devices. (TNNOWIOS-1551)
- In some very rare occasions, HTML links are not displayed as expected within the article detail view. This has been corrected and links will display and be clickable. (TNNOWIOS-1613)
Features (Android)
- The Customer.IO SDK support for inline messaging has been added to Android. The placement options match the ones available on iOS. (TNNOWANDROID-1254)
- The default image for assets can be uploaded to AppMan. This image is used when an asset does not have a cover image but is displayed within a block containing an image view. Please note this field is currently not supported on iOS but will be in the future. The field in Page Customizations will still work as expected. (TNNOWANDROID-1274)
Improvements & Bug Fixes (Android)
- When the user taps ‘Contact us’ from the profile view the email generated will be appended with the app version, platform name (iOS/Android), and its OS version number. (TNNOWANDROID-1345)
- Some reports from app users indicated they were frequently asked to login after opening the app despite already having logged in. We have identified this issue being caused by how the app saved login credentials between sessions. The app has been changed to use a more generic method which should work across all flavors of Android. (TNNOWANDROID-1378)
- App managers reported issues using the window.location Javascript method within the article detail view’s embedded web views. This has been addressed and the web view will redirect to the indicated location. (TNNOWANDROID-1387)
- App version 218.0 and beyond have support for Android SDK 36 and the ‘back button preview’ feature introduced in Android 16. (TNNOWANDROID-1388)
- A bug was identified causing the Android app’s status bar to not match the color set in AppMan. This has been fixed and the status bar will match the status bar color selected. (TNNOWANDROID-1400)
- A bug was identified which caused the Mobile NX Android app to not attempt to resend the receipt data to BLOX if validation failed during an in-app purchase. This has been corrected. Additionally, a ‘Restore Purchases’ button has been added as a last resort if the user purchased an iAP but does not have access. In most cases, validation should happen automatically and without user interaction. (TNNOWANDROID-1402)
- A bug was identified where the asset feed would reset when swiping back from an article detail. This has been fixed and the user will return to the position within the asset feed when the article detail view is dismissed. (TNNOWANDROID-1408)
- A bug was identified causing articles to show less ads than expected due to HTML formatting of their assets. This has been addressed and the expected number of ads should show when using automatic ads. (TNNOWANDROID-1422)
- Additional information has been added to the non-fatal crash logged when a subscriber sees the paywall. This will help the app developers continue to track down the cause of this issue. (TNNOWANDROID-1423)
