In this release for BLOX Mobile NX, App Version 214.0/9.15.0, we are improving the overall reader experience of the app with a number of bug fixes and improvements.
Please note: Apple has released their quarterly account agreements. Until accepted, we are unable to update your apps to the latest version. iOS and Android features and improvements
Content marked as unpublished will no longer show up in article or collection detail views. (TNNOWIOS-744/TNNOWANDROID-575)
The AppsFlyer SDK has been removed and will no longer be supported. (TNNOWIOS-1241/TNNOWANDROID-1047)
If no notification topics are available during onboarding, then the notification details view will be skipped and the next initial onboarding view will show after the user has made a selection on the initial notification view. (TNNOWIOS-1256/TNNOWANDROID-1062)
YouTube assets will now display in-line on article detail views. Please note the video will still render in a webview but will no longer require the user to leave the app. (TNNOWIOS-1258/TNNOWANDROID-1066)
Additional deep link URLs paths have been added to provide links to views in the app such as the e-Edition publications and push notification settings view. (TNNOWIOS-1266/TNNOWANDROID-1073)
Customer.io actions have been adopted and provide links to the same location as the deep link paths. Note, this is the recommended way (by Customer.io) to link into the app. (TNNOWIOS-1267/TNNOWANDROID-1029)
iOS features and improvements
While in voiceover mode, the cursor will no longer get stuck on the scrollbar and will instead navigate to the next annotated element. (TNNOWIOS-107)
Election race blocks will now show up in asset feeds as expected. (TNNOWIOS-1048)
While in the e-Edition reader, if a segment is selected when another segment is selected the first segment will unselect. (TNNOWIOS-1215)
Tapping the dots below an image collection in an article detail view will transition between the images within the collection. (TNNOWIOS-1243)
New builds will no longer receive a warning email from Apple concerning Apple silicon. Please note: BLOX Mobile NX apps are not supported on Macs with Apple silicon and should not target this platform from Apple Connect. (TNNOWIOS-1251)
iOS bugs
When sharing an asset, the URL will be provided instead of the asset name. (TNNOWIOS-1068)
In some rare cases, "For You" selected topics would turn off when visiting the configuration view. This has been resolved and a topic will remain selected even after leaving the configuration. (TNNOWIOS-1082)
The 'Manage Account Information' view, which includes the ability to change your password, has been localized for Spanish. (TNNOWIOS-1224)
Assets marked with the breaking flag label will now use the default color scheme of a red background with white text to match the appearance on Android. (TNNOWIOS-1238)
Play icons on asset feed blocks will use the accent color if set from AppMan. (TNNOWIOS-1252)
Search results will always display with a timestamp. (TNNOWIOS-1257)
A bug caused in-app purchase offer descriptions to disappear. This bug has been addressed and descriptions associated with a subscription in BLOX will now display as expected. (TNNOWIOS-1259)
In some cases, the app would crash when a push notification was opened while the app was in HTML mode. This has been resolved and the app will no longer crash when a push notification is opened. (TNNOWIOS-1261)
Bylines on embedded video assets have been removed to match the appearance on Android. (TNNOWIOS-1273)
Bugfixes have been added to resolve a crash appearing in Firebase Crashlytics related to 'iAPService.buildOffers()'. We will continue to monitor this crash and add additional fixes if the issue still persists. (TNNOWIOS-1295)
A custom endpoint URL set in AppMan would result in an error and the app not loading correctly. This has been resolved and a custom endpoint set in AppMan will be used as the main source for populating the app. (TNNOWIOS-1303)
Android features and improvements
The background color set for a utility block will be properly used as the background color. (TNNOWANDROID-923)
The e-Edition publications view (the landing page for the e-Edition tab) has been refactored to use Kotlin to modernize our code and provide additional stability. (TNNOWANDROID-1067)
The Customer.io SDK version has been updated to 4.3.0 to support the latest features. Please note, an Android source should be created and added to your Customer.io workspace's data pipeline. The API key will need to be uploaded to AppMan. (TNNOWANDROID-1070)
Push notification analytics have been added to provide additional insight into notification interactions. Please read documentation for more information. (TNNOWANDROID-1090)
Push notification icons are now properly supported. (TNNOWANDROID-1093)
The Facebook SDK has been updated to version 17.0.1. (TNNOWANDROID-1106)
Android bugs
A bug caused vertical videos to play in a cropped view, filling out the embedded video player. This has been resolved. Vertical videos will now play in the correct aspect ratio in the embedded video player. (TNNANDROID-1038)
A bug caused some apps to close immediately after opening from the Google Play Store. This bug has been addressed and the app will open as expected when 'Open' is clicked from the app's Google Play Store view. (TNNOWANDROID-1053)
In some rare cases, an additional instance of a BLOX Mobile NX app can be opened resulting in the app appearing twice in the app drawer. This has been resolved and only one instance of the app can run. (TNNOWANDROID-1105)
This release also makes minor infrastructure changes that should not be noticeable to admin or front-end users.
