In this release of BLOX Subscriptions, we are introducing several improvements and bug fixes for cancel processes, automated credit card failure emails and updates to support major features that will be released in the future. We are also making infrastructure changes that should not be noticeable to admin or front-end users.
NEW FEATURES
Subscriptions will now automatically cancel upon reaching their End Date (Expiration Date plus Grace Period), triggering all related events such as emails and webhooks. Subscriptions that do not recur will be marked as cancelled with a reason code of "One-time subscription expired." This update addresses the issue where accounts could remain active without access if they did not reach maximum retries. (SUBSCRIPTN-557275)
The help text for "Payment Handler" on the service form has been revised to reflect its new location. It now directs users to Marketplace > Transactions > Application Settings, ensuring accurate guidance for creating or modifying handlers. (SUBSCRIPTN-557367)
We have prepared a user-friendly update to the upcoming Article Gifting feature. Logged-in recipients of gifted articles will be able to claim and read these articles without needing to re-enter their email or sign in again, streamlining the user experience. Look for future announcements about the launch of this feature. (SUBSCRIPTN-557374)
BUG FIXES
Resolved an issue where generating a Canceled Subscribers report sometimes failed. This was due to deleted services or transactions linked to non-existent services. The report will now exclude these transactions, ensuring reports generate successfully. (SUBSCRIPTN-557373)
We've updated the system to send automatic credit card failure emails whenever any payment error occurs during automatic renewal attempts, rather than only responding to specific error messages. This ensures recurring-payment-failure-user emails are sent more reliably when customers have payment issues. (SUBSCRIPTN-557348)
An issue was corrected where rates with a start date prior to 1970 caused display problems in the Rates tab. (SUBSCRIPTN-557372)
Correction of an issue where changes to email notification settings in services were not being saved properly. Enabling or disabling email notifications now works as expected, ensuring that settings persist after saving. (SUBSCRIPTN-557396)
