As part of our ongoing commitment to keeping you informed and empowered, we want to share an important update regarding Google Analytics. Google has announced that they will be sunsetting Google Analytics 360 (GA360) and transitioning to Google Analytics 4 (GA4). This shift promises enhanced capabilities but will also bring changes to how reporting functions for some of our solutions.
Read on to learn how Google's changes will impact our legacy BLOX Subscription Pro and BLOX Now App products, and our cutting-edge BLOX Mobile NX platform.
BLOX Subscription Pro
When Google fully discontinues support for GA360, reports and associated event data will no longer be available for Subscription Pro customers. Essential data, such as subscription revenue reports and subscriber exports, will remain accessible via reports in BLOX CMS.
Recommended action: To continue benefiting from in-depth analytics, we strongly recommend upgrading to BLOX Audience+. In addition to offering a host of dynamic metering and advanced audience targeting capabilities, BLOX Audience+ supports GA4 and provides robust reporting capabilities, including subscription and paywall event tracking, KPIs, and much more.
BLOX Now App
A small subset of GA360 events—article views, video views, and content sharing—is now being recorded and processed through GA4 (for a complete list of events, please refer to this document). There are no current plans to add additional GA4 events within the BLOX Now App product.
Recommended action: To continue benefiting from detailed analytics, we recommend upgrading to BLOX Mobile NX. Not only does BLOX Mobile NX offer a modern, personalized mobile news experience, it fully supports GA4.
BLOX Mobile NX
Great news! BLOX Mobile NX fully supports GA4 as its primary analytics framework, with all app data stored via Firebase. To change or connect a GA4 property, please check out the instructions on our help desk.
Recommended action: In future versions of BLOX Mobile NX, the Universal Analytics (GA3) SDK will be removed to reduce app bundle size. To keep your analytics flowing, we recommend immediately upgrading to GA4.
