The BLOX NXT September 2026 release streamlines everyday newsroom workflows
Story Templates, Dynamic Collections, clearer asset status, smarter defaults and easier multi-site administration take some of the repetition out of routine workflows.
Even the most cutting-edge CMS sometimes earns its keep simply by streamlining your boring, everyday tasks.
Repeating the Friday night high school football package. Checking whether the version in your editor is the one readers can see. Fixing an accidental deletion. Setting up another site without rebuilding the same permissions from scratch.
Quicker, easier Story Template creation directly from the global “+ Create” menu.
This release brings several important legacy BLOX CMS workflows into BLOX NXT and cuts down the setup around jobs newsroom, admin, and audience teams already do.
Easier Story Template access for recurring content
Story Templates are easier to use and easier to create. They now appear alongside standard asset types in the global “+ Create” menu. Search for one, pin the templates you use most, and start the next asset from there.
Pinned templates are saved by site, which helps when you work across publications with different recurring packages.
You can also create a Story Template from scratch, no source article required.
That makes sense for work that already has a shape: election coverage, a weekly sports roundup, a recurring column, or any package your newsroom builds over and over.
Set up the structure once. Use it when you need it.
Dynamic Collections are back
Some collections need an editor’s hands on every story. Some don’t.
Dynamic Collections let a search query decide which matching assets belong in the collection. As new content matches the query, the collection keeps up. Editors can still pin specific assets at the top. So the repetitive work can happen in the background without handing over the news judgment.
For teams that used Dynamic Collections in Legacy BLOX, this is a big parity win.
Asset pages now show status near the publishing controls.
A simpler way to see what visitors are seeing
Draft-by-default workflows have one obvious catch: what’s saved in the editor isn’t always what’s live.
The September release makes that easier to understand at a glance.
Asset pages now show status near the publishing controls. The information bar gives a clearer picture of whether the asset is online and when the current published version went live, even while someone works on a newer draft.
Deleted assets also get a better recovery path. You can open one in a read-only view, check what it was, and restore it when needed.
Accidentally deleting an article can go back to being a correctable mistake instead of a newsroom disaster.
My Preferences area gives personal settings one home.
Personal setup choices, all in one place
The redesigned My Preferences area gives personal settings one home.
Global preferences cover items like theme and language. Site preferences can handle workflow, author, start time and preferred presentations for articles, images and collections.
If you create the same kinds of assets all day, those defaults matter. BLOX NXT can start closer to where you wanted to end up anyway.
Story Templates still take precedence when a template specifies something different.
Multi-site admin gets less repetitive
Anyone who manages a network knows how fast small setup jobs multiply. The September 2026 release lets authorized users select admins or groups and copy them to other managed sites in one quick action.
Note: Changing the original later won’t change copies across all sites. When a group is copied, its permissions and capabilities come with it, but its members do not.
Subscriber work gets a myriad of useful enhancements
The release gives your audience team easier paths through common account and contact work.
Staff can help move a registered user through the subscription process, from finding or creating the account through choosing the service and rate and completing the purchase.
In this release of BLOX NXT Admin (version 0.29.0), we're giving editors faster ways to set up and reuse story structure, clearer signals abou…
Contacts Search also gets a Subscription Rate Name filter. That becomes useful fast when several old plans or promotions have the same price and you need to find the people on one specific rate.
Familiar workflows, fewer side quests
The September 2026 release puts more legacy capabilities into BLOX NXT, makes the current state of content easier to understand, and cuts some of the setup time around jobs teams already know how to do. That means fewer reasons to fall back to an older workflow just to finish the job.
