At BLOX Digital, we believe success starts with finding the right people. The work we do here is changing the local media industry, and these are the people who are making it happen. Today we shine a light on Betsy Green, Onboarding Manager.
What is your background?
I've been working as a project manager since before I knew that was an actual career. I've worked in a wide array of industries: retail, non-profits, branding and marketing, telecom, pharmaceuticals, web design and development, and insurance, to name a few.
In 2016, I earned my Project Management Professional certification from the Project Management Institute, which leveled up my game significantly. It's important to me to mentor other project managers, so I served on the board of the Quad Cities chapter of the Project Management Institute for several years.
In my position as Onboarding Manager at BLOX Digital, I lead an awesome team of project managers who are charged with the important task of getting new clients off to a great start.
What do you love most about your job?
Project management is an always shifting blend of planning, adapting, and problem solving. I love that no two days are alike, the chance to improve processes and make work easier, and to bring order out of chaos.
What are you currently working on that you'd like everyone to know more about?
I'm working on an engagement with a new client to transition them to BLOX CMS. The project includes a significant amount of custom development work, team members across multiple countries, a challenging timeline, and a lot of moving pieces. It's been a really exciting opportunity, and our team is outstanding!
What are you most excited about for the future of the news industry?
I am fascinated by the way technology is expanding our ability to consume news.
What's something people don't know about you?
When I'm not at work, chances are good I'm practicing martial arts. I've been learning tae kwon do for seven years now and am a second degree black belt, on track to earn my third degree in about a year and a half. I decided I wanted to learn even more, so I started taking karate, too (just an orange belt right now.) There is no better stress reliever than being able to yell, kick, punch, give pushups to unruly white belts, and break boards.
On her off time, Betsy is an award winning second degree black belt.
