At TownNews, we believe success starts with finding the right people. The work we do here is changing the local media industry, and these are the people who are making it happen. Today we shine a light on Jessica Reinert, Senior Broadcast Sales Manager.
What is your background?
I have been working in the news media industry since I graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Madison with a double major in Journalism and Communication Arts (radio, TV, and film). My first post-college job was building a digital ad network in 2006 for another content management system company. I got to visit two different Google offices, including the Googleplex in California. (Pretty cool for a first job out of college!) Since then, I've worked as a sales rep at WMTV in Madison, Wisconsin; and as the salesperson for Field59 VMS and TownNews.
What do you love most about your job?
The thing I love about sales is listening to people's needs and pain points, and then telling them how our products can help make their lives easier. I've worked at a TV station—I know everyone there wears five hats—and I'm glad our solutions can help people find relief!
What are you currently working on that you'd like everyone to know more about?
Ask me again in a couple weeks *knocks on wood.* I'm a superstitious sales person, and nothing is ever closed until it's signed.
I am excited about what we accomplished at NAB Show recently in Las Vegas. It was great seeing coworkers and customers in person again, and making new connections.
What are you most excited about for the future of the news industry?
All things video streaming! The news industry is in uncharted territory right now. There are no more reasons to keep doing something because "it's always been done that way." Those people are being left behind. I love following platforms like Peacock: a streamer from a classic network, purchasing content from other networks, and putting it on their own platform! So smart.
What's something people don't know about you?
My husband and I live in Portland, OR but I'm from Chicago originally. I have a tiny (don't tell him) Shih Tzu named Macho. I like to draw and play pinball.
