At TownNews, we believe success starts with finding the right people. The work we do here is changing the local media industry, and these are the people who are making it happen. Today we shine a light on Sarah Plumley, Digital Ad Operations Specialist.
What is your background?
I started out as a graphic designer in 2004 at a small newspaper that didn't have internet or even color. I did everything from designing the ads, pasting up the news articles, making the plates, inserts, and mailing stickers! In 2006, I moved to the Quad-City Times as a graphic designer—that was a big change having color to design with—before I switched over to the digital world of advertising.
What do you love most about your job?
I love that I get to talk with multiple newspaper employees across the United States every day.
What are you currently working on that you'd like everyone to know more about?
Every day I assist with the digital advertising placements for over 75 markets across 26 states. I'm lucky to be part of such a great team of ad ops specialists.
What are you most excited about for the future of the news industry?
I'm most excited about the changes that happen thanks to new technology. (Hello color ads!)
What's something people don't know about you?
My house is decorated with mid to late 1800’s Antiques, and the earliest item I own is from the 1780’s. I also embrace my Dutch heritage and own several wooden shoes from Holland.
