BLOX Digital recommends that partners who use macOS workstations with BLOX Total CMS installed exercise caution when updating to Adobe InDesign Creative Cloud 2025 Version 20.1.0.71.
A site running macOS recently updated Adobe InDesign to version 20.1.0.71 and began experiencing crashes when attempting to use the BLOX Total CMS menu. The BLOX Total CMS team replicated the crash while testing against Mac OS Sequoia version 15.2 with Client 5.74 installed.
For now, BLOX Digital recommends that partners using macOS workstations with BLOX Total CMS installed use Adobe InDesign Creative Cloud 2025 Version 20.0.1 or CC2024 Version 19.5.1. The BLOX Total CMS team will continue to investigate and collaborate with Adobe. We will work towards a permanent solution once we determine why the crash is occurring.
Learn more about the latest release of Adobe InDesign
Adobe released Adobe Creative Cloud 2025 in October, 2024Â (version 20.0). Learn more about the latest release and known issues.Â
Before installing the latest version of Creative Cloud InDesign, we recommend sites DO NOT HAVE "Import previous settings and preferences" checked in the Creative Cloud application. Having it checked (and it is, unfortunately, the default) can/will cause the updated InDesign to get a copy of the client code rather than a copy of the shortcut/alias to the client code. The end result is that some things (all the add-ons) will fail (no automatic folios for example) and worse you could have crashing if you manage to get two copies of the client code running.
We recommend updating the newsroom before ad layout (the staff that uses BLOX Total CMS > Documents > Advertising > Create Edition from Edition file...) so that the pages can be worked on because once a newer version of Adobe InDesign opens the document, you aren't going to be able to open it with an older version.
Then, once you have each workstation updated please use the client's
BLOX Total CMS > Development > Spawn Template...
feature to update the InDesign templates to the current version of Adobe InDesign.
