In this release of the Rayos platform, we are adding support for a new Geo Blocking plugin, improving inline image support, and adding support for expiration and deletion signals from ingested content. In addition, there are several other improvements and bug fixes.
NEW FEATURES
- The Rayos platform will now accept expiration and deletion signals from ingested content. This is required both to improve system performance as well as to comply with legal agreements from external content providers. Associated media elements will also be deleted when an ingested article is deleted, even if they may be used on another article. Content from external providers that has been localized through editing, however, will not be automatically deleted, even if a deletion or expiration date is specified. (RAYOS-792)
- Inline images that come over as part of a BLOX CMS syndication job will now map more appropriately when viewed in the Rayos platform. This will now work for single inline images as well as inline image collections. (RAYOS-790)
- Importing content from the Rayos platform to the BLOX CMS platform now has more nuanced support for featured images. If the image in Rayos in a featured image, it will be imported into BLOX as a child image, which will show up as the preview image for that story. If the image is Rayos has a suppressed featured image (that does not display on the article page), it will be imported into BLOX CMS as a teaser image. Teaser images in BLOX CMS do not display on the article, making these an appropriate equivalent. (RAYOS-845)
- We have added a new Geo Blocking plugin to assist partners who want to block traffic from Europe due to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). For legal reasons, some sites may want to block this traffic if they are not yet ready to comply with those regulations. If your site is interested in setting up this plugin, please contact customer support at (800) 293-9576 or TownNews.com/support. (RAYOS-873)
IMPROVEMENTS
- The default settings for the Trending Topics plugin will now be to include only minor weather alerts. It is the expectation that other weather alerts are included in weather-specific widgets that will be shown elsewhere on the site. However, other alert types can still be enabled in the Trending Topics plugin if desired, such as extreme, severe, and moderate. (RAYOS-851)
- The new CNN syndication channel will now support saved automations. (RAYOS-871)
- In some cases, weather data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) will return multiple weather alerts that contain the same bulletin for different event types or different states. These will not be considered duplicates if the event type or state are different. (RAYOS-926)
BUG FIXES
- Pinning more than 20 items in a content list will now work as expected. (RAYOS-297)
- When creating a Rayos alert, the message boxes will now register more mouse click events such as Right Click + Paste. (RAYOS-670)
- When using the "Quick Image Gallery" in WPBakery, the images will no longer change size when navigating through them. (RAYOS-869)
- We are updating the Advanced Custom Fields plugin to help resolve some issues with menus that contain a lot of items. (RAYOS-876)
- In some edge cases, an inline image caption was being displayed twice. This has been fixed. (RAYOS-898)
- Severe weather alerts from different states will no longer be combined into one alert, even if they are from the same state. This way an alert will show up under each state that's affected. (RAYOS-915)
- The CNN syndication channel has been updated to use the parameter of 'publisher_id' instead of 'playlist_id' as requested by CNN. (RAYOS-947)
